Should I expect variations in shading on the sides of a cube? The cube and the sphere have the same material. Ambient: 0.10 Diffuse: 0.90 Specular: 0.90 Shiny: 200.00 Reflective: 0.00 Transparency: 0.00 Refractive: 1.00 Shiny: 200.00 Pattern Plain: (0.2 0.8 0.0) Attachments:

Hmm ... I think it's a bigger problem. this is a render of a cube scaled 1 6 1 camera position is -3 4 -4 looking at 0 1 1 light is at -20 10 -10 the material is the default material from the book. I have determined the bit at the top showing only ambient (I think) is the part of the cube that is above the level of the camera. red line is x axis, blue is z axis. Attachments:
